Why is Eye Contact Important for Building Connection?
An easy answer is when we visually focus on someone, the interaction relays interest, presence and confidence.
Avoiding eye contact when someone speaks implies possible disinterest, nervousness, impatience, insecurity, distraction or even a lack of confidence.
If you want to improve your eye contact, try these simple techniques:
1. If it’s difficult to look into the other person’s eyes, focus on one eye only. This will “read” as eye contact not that you’re looking strangely at the other person.
2. If this is difficult, then look at the space in between the person's eyebrows. This also “reads” as eye contact.
I can help you make effective eye contact and improve confidence and charisma in any speaking situation. This includes in-person and Zoom meetings, interviews and conversations.
